Eastern Colour Farm, Applethorpe - Pick your own apples and strawberries

At Eastern Colour Farm, the Baronio family invite visitors to pick their own strawberries and apples once a month in season. The family has been in the Stanthorpe district since the 1930s, and John and Louisa’s sons Stephen and Nathan run the Applethorpe farm, which has been in the family since the 1970s. They produce five well-loved Aussie red and green apple varieties known for being crisp, healthy and delicious in the fruit bowl and lunch box - Pink Lady, Royal Gala, Red Delicious, Granny Smith and Fuji. Their apple trees span 72 hectares, and they also produce two hectares of Packham, Williams and Bernie Bosc pears. True to their Italian heritage, the Baronios love staring food and enjoy seeing families leave laded with premium fruit. Afterwards, pop into Granite Belt Christmas Farm, just down the road, for a hot chocolate or meal. The little town of Applethorpe is just 5 km north of Stanthorpe, which is 2.5 hours from Brisbane by car via the Cunningham Highway and Warwick.

Guru Tip
It’s easy to hunt out the bridge red berry treasures, and children love picking their own strawberries. Plus, it teaches them where their food comes from.
