Treading lightly on the environment, three generations of the Owen family have built Coolmunda Olives into an organic farm with 5000 hand-picked trees. Colin and Gesine Owen run the 40-hectare property with help from daughter Katie and the grandkids. You’ll also see Dorper sheep roaming through the groves on weed control duty. The grove enjoys scorching summers and frosty winters making it a prime olive-growing country with Spanish Arbequinas and Manzanillos, Greek Kalamatas and Volos, Cypriate Koronieki and North African Barouni varieties. Buy their olives online or at the farm. Enjoy a guided tour or settle in with an olive platter in the arboretum after exploring the bamboo labyrinth. Inglewood is a comfortable 1hr 45min drive southwest from Toowoomba via Millmerran or a three-hour drive from Brisbane. Continue through Yelarbon to Goondiwindi and find plenty of places to stay.
