Bunya Mountains local produce picnic hampers from The General Store, Bunya Mountains

You’ll find the made-to-order takeaway picnic hampers filled with local produce at The General Store in the Bunya Mountains, which is also the place for ice creams, arts and crafts. Ask for a slice of their creamy house-made cheesecake with lemon myrtle, bunya nuts, sesame and candied lemons and some of the light and fluffy bunya nut scones with local jam, chutneys and Chantilly cream to add to the basket. Feel like some wine? Don’t worry, there’s a bottle shop too! You are spoilt for choice when it comes to finding the perfect picnic spot in the beautiful Bunya Mountains. Lay your picnic blanket on the grass at the Burtons Well, Westcott or Dandabah and soak up the fresh country vibes. Do keep an eye on your picnic food in case some of the locals (birds) decide they are hungry!

Guru Tip
After your picnic with wallabies jumping around and birds overhead The Tavern is a great little spot to enjoy a whisky in front of the fire in winter!

Insta Moment
You can’t go wrong with a majestic Bunya Pine framed by the sunset.
