Country pubs where it’s all about the food

From top local steak to authentic Thai, these Queensland Country pubs will amaze you. It is all about local food and produce and the fresh flavours will delight. You’ll be pleasantly surprised by the prices too when it comes to sizzling steaks straight off the grill.

For meat lovers, the top spots are the Condamine Hotel at Condamine for their tender local steak and lamb cuts and The Railway Hotel in Allora where they still serve the classic Aussie lambs fry and bacon. The lamb chops are special too. At The Bun Pub, Kaimkillenbun, their beef is feedlot to fork and at The Royal Hotel Goondiwindi, the premium Yardstick beef is local. If you are looking for a pork rib rack, the Windsor Hotel in Miles has the answer along with an impressive steak menu. The biggest challenge of them all? A mammoth 1 kg steak on a plate at Meringandan Hotel, Meringandan.

Looking for something different? How about an Aussie pub that serves up excellent Asian food? That’s what you’ll find at Forest Hill Hotel, in Forest Hill where the premium Thai Vietnamese fusion food is made from Lockyer Valley produce.

Can’t decide between lamb shanks at The Lockyer Hotel, Forest Hill or a Guinness steak pie at the Grand Old Crow, Crows Nest? The solution might be something completely different like South African Bunny chow at Bull and Barley, Cambooya or MSA grade local steak with organic lettuce and house-made relish at the Dulacca Hotel, Dulacca.
